Day 4, Thursday, September 24
Continental breakfast (included) in our hotel. Our sightseeing day begins early this morning with a boat ride to New York's most famous landmark, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
A gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States "The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World" is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. It was dedicated by President Grover Cleveland on October 28, 1886. Designated as a National Monument in 1924, employees of the National Park Service have been caring for the Statue of Liberty since 1933. Lunch (on your own) on the Island. The latest addition to Liberty National Park is the Immigration Museum at Ellis Island. We catch the next ferry over to Ellis Island and see where more than 14 million immigrants came into the United States in search of the American dream. After our cruise back to the city, we will spend time around Rockefeller Center where you can enjoy dinner (on your own) and have time for one of New York City's most exciting attractions; shopping! New York is, without a doubt, a showcase for the world's merchandise.
Tonight, we enjoy a long-running favorite Broadway Show; The Lion King, the award-winning best musical at the Minskoff Theatre. A lively stage adaptation of the Academy-Award winning 1994 Disney film brings to life the story of a young lion prince living in the flourishing African Pride Lands. The costumes and music are so wonderful and amazing!
We then leave behind New York City, and as we emerge from the Lincoln Tunnel, we get another look at the city that never sleeps and we have a better understanding of why New York City is the world's number one attraction!!

On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the U.S. came under attack when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used to strike targets on the ground. Nearly 3,000 people tragically lost their lives. Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard one of the planes, Flight 93, the attack on the U.S. Capitol was thwarted. A common field one day. A field of honor forever.
